This Summer, you will have the rare opportunity to hear the fantastic Jazz St. Louis All-Stars and Jazz St. Louis staff members Gene Dobbs Bradford and Bob Bennett as they perform as a part of the Whitaker Urban Evening Series. The series takes place every Thursday Evening from June 19 through July 24 at St. Louis Place Park at Rauschenbach Avenue and St. Louis Avenue

Why: The Whitaker Urban Evening Series draws the community together through cultural expression. Every Thursday night, crowds gather to hear artists such as Ralph Butler and Javier Mendoza fill St. Louis Place Park with their toe-tapping talents. However, this event is more than entertainment; it’s about connection and education. The series draws community partners from across the area and an audience from more than 50 zip codes introducing the region to the growth and revival of North St. Louis.

Every night, attendees learn about important community services and educational opportunities as well as have the chance to participate in on-site health screenings. Kids come for the fun, games and child-friendly performers such as face-painters, caricature artists and jugglers. Overall, the series delivers something North City hasn’t experienced in more than 30 years – a secure, high-quality community event.
